Customer service resume: examples and tips

Customer service managers hire for patience, clear communication, and the ability to solve problems without escalating everything. Show that with real examples.

What employers look for

  • Channels: phone, email, chat, in-person, social — list what you have done.
  • Systems: CRM (Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot, or the one you used), helpdesk tickets, order systems.
  • Problem solving: returns, billing questions, troubleshooting, de-escalation.
  • Reliability: schedule adherence, queue times, following scripts and policies.
  • Metrics: only include CSAT, AHT, or handle time if you know the real numbers.

Sample bullet points (use only what is true for you)

  • Handled inbound customer calls about orders, shipping and returns.
  • Resolved billing questions using the CRM and documented each ticket.
  • De-escalated upset customers while following company policy.
  • Met schedule adherence targets on a rotating phone queue.
  • Trained new agents on the knowledge base and call greeting.
  • Processed chat and email cases in addition to phone support.

A short summary

Example: "Customer service representative with phone and chat experience. Comfortable with CRM ticketing and calm under peak volume. Looking for a full-time support role with growth into team lead."

Skills to list

Phone etiquette, CRM, de-escalation, order management, data entry, typing, email writing, product knowledge, bilingual support, remote tools if you worked from home.

Common mistakes

  • Inventing CSAT or sales numbers.
  • No CRM or channel listed when every posting asks for them.
  • A summary that says "people person" with no proof.
